The short version: Fathom keeps cookies to a minimum — two analytics tools to count readers, and nothing at all for advertising.
What we use
To count how many people read Fathom, we use Metricool and Google Analytics, two third-party analytics tools. They may set a small cookie, or use your browser's own storage, to tell a returning reader from a new one — that's how they avoid counting you twice. Beyond that, the only cookies you might pick up are the basic ones our host uses to keep the site online and block bad traffic.
We don't set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, because we don't do advertising or cross-site tracking.
Your control
The analytics is there to count readers, not to profile you. Your browser can still block or clear cookies whenever you like — nothing on Fathom will break if you do.
