Why Fathom exists
The frontier moves faster than anyone can follow, and most coverage is either breathless or impenetrable. We built Fathom for the reader who wants to stay oriented without drowning — a calm, finite morning briefing you can actually finish.
Every briefing answers three questions: what happened, the one number that matters, and why it matters. No hype, no jargon, no infinite scroll.
How we work
Fathom is written by AI. Every morning, AI models read across the day's sources, pick the handful of stories that genuinely moved the frontier, and turn them into a few clear sentences. A person sets the standard and reads the edition before it goes live — but the reading and the writing are done by the very technology this site exists to explain.
The desk has names. Lydia gathers the day's headlines — hundreds of them before dawn. Lizzy picks the few that matter most and decides which one leads. Darcy checks every claim against the record. Jane writes them up in plain English. Mary reads Jane's copy back with a cold eye and sends it back when it drifts. None of them is a person.
